Bio
What do you get when you cross the sweet, soulful cries that come from the guitar of BB King, and the hot, chicken pickin’ licks of Brent Mason? You get a young guitarist with a passion for music that has a little bit of soul and a bit of twang. Jim Ber has had a passion for playing the guitar for most of his life. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, into a family that did nothing but listen to and explore music, his appetite to play these differing genres grew with him. Picking up his first guitar at the age of 8, he has rarely put it down since. Now, in his senior year as a Guitar Performance Major at Belmont University, he has become accustomed to many of the genres he heard as a kid. Jim’s biggest influences as a guitar player are Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, JJ Cale, Derek Trucks, Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Wes Montgomery, Hank Garland, and Les Paul as well as BB King and Brent Mason mentioned above. Jim has spent many years of his life listening and carefully studying these guitarists to further his playing to a place he desires to be. Jim is currently working on some original music that he intends to record sometime in the near future. He is also building his repertoire to include many highly demanding techniques in the Country, Jazz, Blues and Rock styles. Jim is working towards an hour long show that will showcase all of these different genres at the end of spring next year. He loves to play with friends when he can and has played around town a few times. Jim is always looking for the next chance to play with talented musicians.
